The Power of a Bodysuit and Tights
Some of the most powerful images come from the simplest elements, and that’s exactly what happened in my recent model test shoot with the incredible, Fi Yang. Fi was referred by the modeling icon herself, Julie Anderson. Julie knew we would work well together and Fi really was a dream to photograph. Referrals mean the world to me, especially in a new city, so thanks so much for this, Julie!
For this set (Yes, there are more to come! Stay tuned!) Fi wore a classic black bodysuit with an interesting neckline area and paired it with sheer, striped tights — basic staples that allowed us to explore a range of creative possibilities.
As we began shooting, I instructed her to play with her hair, lifting it and twisting it to create interesting shapes. And, later, even intentionally messing it up to add texture. This added a playful, edgy vibe to the shoot, transforming the simplicity of the bodysuit and tights into something much more striking. The contrast between the smooth, sleek lines of her outfit and the shapes and textures of her hair resulted in photos that felt both raw and refined.
This shoot was a reminder of how powerful simplicity can be in fashion — how basic pieces can become the foundation for truly creative expression.
Is this a look you would consider wearing to your portrait session with me?
It’s so versatile! You could add a blazer, a kimono style wrap, or go bare legged and barefoot. This works beautifully for boudoir sessions, too!
