What a relief
Building this website is helping me reconnect with my old self again. It was a significant part of my identity that has been absent for far too long.
It all began during the pandemic when my emails started malfunctioning. My clients were unable to get ahold of me that way after lockdown, when we were all able to work again. This was obviously several problematic since it affected my livelihood during a tumultuous time. Despite numerous attempts to fix the issues with my hosting service, the problems persisted. Eventually, I switched hosting services, only to discover that my entire website was now broken down and no longer functional. The challenges coincided with a difficult period related to my mother, making it easier for me to walk away from the website problems, as I walked towards an entirely new life—and new me.
However, the absence of a website had a profound impact on me. It felt like I had nothing to show from a significant part of my life that I was immensely proud of. All my images, my writings, testimonials, designs, branding—everything from the past 13 years—simply vanished overnight.
During the process of rebuilding my life, I realized the importance of having that online presence—especially for someone who has always worked in the visual arts. It plays a crucial role in making new connections, exploring new business opportunities, and allowing people to understand who I am, where I've been, and what I've accomplished.
So, here I am, embarking on this journey once again. This marks my fourth attempt at building a website, as none of the previous versions felt "just right." After careful consideration, I've chosen SquareSpace. I appreciate the convenience of it being a one-stop shop, eliminating concerns about hosting as a separate entanglement in the future. And, I’m thrilled with it so far! I hope you all will enjoy it, too!
