Elevating Photography with Signed, Framed Art
In the digital age, the value of photography has undergone significant changes. Photographers used to take their film to local labs or to their own darkroom to print their images. They were involved in the print process, which added to the art of photography. With the rise of digital photography, many photographers have shifted to sending their images to nationwide labs for printing and may never see their images sent off to lab in print form whatsoever because it’s then often drop shipped to the clients who commissioned their portrait. This has created a disconnect between the artist and their work. These labs often don't offer the option for photographers to sign their prints digitally either. Consequently, many photographers have stopped adding their signature, losing a personal touch that helps to distinguish their work.
This shift has also been influenced by the pervasive feeling of imposter syndrome within the photography community. Many photographers hesitate to sign their work, fearing that it might come across as presumptuous. However, I believe that it is crucial to reclaim the human touch in photography, especially with the growing influence of AI in our industry. Now, more than ever, photography needs to be re-elevated as a form of art created by a human being.
To address this, I am thrilled to introduce a new framing option for your wall art that emphasizes the unique, artistic value of each photograph. I am now offering beautifully framed floating images printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag with either deckled or straight edges. Each print will feature my signature, the year, and the location where the photograph was taken. And will also come with a Certificate of Authenticity. This adds a personal touch and ensures that each piece is recognized as a work of art.
Mock-up Examples:
One of the most exciting aspects of this new offering is the concept of limited edition prints. For example, I will print one image for a client that will never be printed again, making it a true one-of-a-kind piece, a 1/1 limited edition, marked on your print. This approach not only adds exclusivity but also enhances the value of each photograph.
The inspiration for this idea came from my own experience. I have a long hallway at my place that we've turned into a gallery to display art we love. I am particularly smitten with the pieces that include the artist's signature, edition information, and sometimes even a title or location. These details significantly elevate the artwork in my eyes.
One of the pieces now hanging there is a portrait of myself drawn by an amazing artist in Paris that we recently had custom framed. The framing transformed it into a piece of art that I am proud to hang and display — in our hallway gallery. Where many of us can be hesitant to display a photo of oneself, when it’s art, you want to share e it with the world. Fine art nudes, in particular, benefit greatly from this treatment. It allows the photographs to be appreciated not just as images, but as fine art.
Framed Floating Print Example:
Hanging your portraits and treating them as fine art offers numerous advantages:
Personal Connection: A signed and framed photograph with personal details connects the viewer to the artist, adding a unique narrative to each piece.
Exclusivity: Extreme limited editions ensure that each piece is a unique, collectible work of art.
Elevated Presentation: The use of high-quality materials and framing techniques enhances the aesthetic appeal and longevity of the artwork.
Artistic Value: Recognizing photography as fine art elevates the medium and highlights the skill and creativity of the photographer.
By offering these new framing options, I aim to bring back the human touch to my photography and celebrate it as a true art form. Each piece is not just a photograph but a testament to the artistry and vision of the photographer — me. I invite you to explore these options and elevate your own collection with beautifully framed, signed, and exclusive photographs.
