A NYC test Shoot with Supermodel Julie Anderson
There’s something uniquely exhilarating about a shoot that goes perfectly right, where every element aligns to create pure magic. Such was the case during my recent shoot with supermodel extraordinaire Julie Anderson and the incredibly talented Makeup Artist Margret Avery. The backdrop for our creative endeavor was a gorgeous high-end photography studio right in the heart of Midtown Manhattan.
Setting the Scene
The session was organized as a test shoot for Julie’s portfolio, intended to update it with some more variety. Over the course of five incredible hours, we cycled through six or seven coordinated looks, each one more breathtaking than the last. Margaret’s artistry was-out-of-this-world; with each wardrobe change, she seamlessly adjusted Julie’s makeup, enhancing every look with absolute perfection.
The Magic of Collaboration
From the moment we started, the synergy between us was palpable. Julie's wealth of experience and poise in front of the camera made my job behind it an absolute pleasure. Margaret's makeup skills were flawless, creating looks that ranged from natural beauty looks all the way up to the best smokey eye in the business. This collaboration allowed us to capture a diverse array of images, giving Julie a rich and varied portfolio refresh that truly represents her incredible range as a model. I could definitely see her landing the next big beauty, jewelry or fashion campaign!
But FirsT, The Digitals
Before the makeup and wardrobe changes began, we took a series of digitals, otherwise known as polaroids. These shots are crucial for any model, providing agencies with a minimally embellished look at their natural appearance. Julie’s effortless beauty shone through even in these simplest of images, setting a solid foundation for the day’s more elaborate setups.
Variety and Versatility
Each wardrobe change brought a new energy to the shoot. From sleek, minimalist looks to bold, couture-inspired outfits, every change highlighted a different facet of Julie’s modeling prowess. Margaret’s adaptability with makeup ensured that each look was distinct yet cohesively beautiful. This variety is not just a testament to Julie’s talent but also provides her agency with a robust selection of images to pitch for various types of work.
The Results
I am obsessed with the images we captured that day. The combination of Julie's exceptional modeling skills and Margaret's expert makeup applications resulted in photographs that I am just head over heels for. Each shot, in my opinion, showcases Julie’s extraordinary beauty and capabilities.
