Femme FatalE Files: Julie Anderson

I am thrilled to introduce you to a new friend today, Julie Anderson.

Julie Anderson is brilliant. Yet, she wears her brilliance with a humility that belies her extraordinary talent. Talent not just in the realm of professional modeling—she’s a talented writer as well and has a depth and sensitivity not common to many. There's a unique quality to her aura—a combination of mystery and sensuality, of thoughtfulness and electricity. It's elegance with an edge, a presence that lingers.

I witnessed that presence firsthand in a room full of strangers who had gathered at Pete’s Candy Store in Brooklyn for performances and readings by songwriters and poets, put on by the incredibly cool Lorraine Leckie. There, Julie shared intimate poems she wrote in her book, Secrets and Lies. I was struck by the raw authenticity with which she bared her soul to the audience through her poetry. The event was a showcase of extraordinary talent, yet Julie's presence stood out to me.

While Julie's status as a supermodel is undeniable, it is her humanity that truly sets her apart. Beyond the glossy pages of fashion magazines, she is a truly beautiful soul—a devoted mother, a sweet friend.

In the images from our recent photoshoot (A few shared here. Stay tuned for more!), you'll catch a glimpse of Julie's outer beauty. But it is my hope that you'll also come to appreciate the sweetness and depth of her inner world—a world illuminated by her brilliance, her authenticity, and her thoughtfulness to those around her.

Short Bio:

I am a multifaceted individual - a mother of three, a fashion model with a career that spans decades, the Author & Publisher at Feminine Collective, and now also a TikTok creator.

Define Femme Fatale on your own terms:

To me, a femme fatale is someone who boldly claims their power and fierceness in every aspect of life, embodying confidence, allure, and independence.

Can you share a bit about your journey to embracing your own inner femme fatale?

My path to embracing my inner femme fatale was marked by shedding the weight of psychological abuse endured since childhood. By seizing each day with a sense of urgency and determination (as if each day were my last), I uncovered my inner strength, paving the way for confidence and empowerment.

Could you reveal a style tip or fashion accessory that makes you feel irresistibly confident and sexy?

Perfume! For me, perfume is more than just a fragrance - it's a confidence booster. A signature scent can instantly elevate your mood and make you feel irresistible.

Is there a song, album or musical genre that is sure to make you feel seductive?

The sultry melodies of jazz never fail to awaken my inner seductress.

Are there any historical or fictional femme fatales who inspire or influence your perception of femininity?

Icons like Nina Simone, Audrey Hepburn, and Marilyn Monroe have left a powerful mark on my perception of femininity, with their inspiring combinations of strength and sensuality..

Can you recommend any books, podcasts, or resources that have helped you in your journey towards self-discovery and empowerment?

Feminine Collective, with its diverse array of voices and perspectives, is my go-to for women’s empowerment. So many amazing women have shared their thoughts on the site and those thoughts have helped to propel me further.

And I love Brene Brown!

What makes you feel sexy?

Indulging in a luxurious bath filled with glorious bubbles, fragrant soaps and soothing lotions afterwards is my ultimate self-care ritual, leaving me feeling pampered and sexy.

Favorite NYC Spots for Embracing the Femme Fatale:

Balthazar French Restaurant in SoHo exudes an effortlessly chic ambiance that definitely brings out the femme fatal in me. Its timeless elegance and buzzing energy makes it a place I love to revisit again and again, whether for dinner or just a cocktail!

In a society that often imposes limitations and stereotypes on aging women, how do you believe women can break free from these confines and embrace the process of aging with grace and authenticity?

In a society that often imposes limitations on aging women, embracing one's age with grace and authenticity is an act of defiance. By honoring our unique journeys and embracing our wisdom, we can challenge stereotypes and redefine beauty on our own terms.
