When Fashion and Art Collide

Fashion isn’t just about clothing—it’s about expression, creativity, and sometimes, it’s about art. For the final look of this recent model test shoot with Fi Yang, I had the pleasure of styling the look myself. I’ve been waiting for just the right person to wear a couple of special pieces, and she was perfect for it.

I chose a sheer volume top from Anthropologie, which added a dramatic yet elegant flair to the look. But the real star of the show was a unique beaded necklace made of clay, created by Jorge Gomez, an artist from Creative Growth — a non-profit in Oakland that supports artists with disabilities. Creative Growth is a place close to my heart, where I’ve volunteered in the past, and it’s truly magical. The artists there, including Jorge, create work that is full of life, character, and deep meaning.

This necklace brought an entirely new dimension to the shoot, blending fashion and art in a way that felt authentic and powerful. Fi brought the outfit to life, embodying the perfect balance between modern style and artistic expression.

If you’re ever in Oakland or want to support talented artists, I highly recommend visiting Creative Growth or exploring their online shop. Jorge Gomez’s work, like the necklace featured in this shoot, is just one example of the incredible art being created there.
