Savoring the City: Amsterdam Edition Part 2 - Art and Culture
The Importance of Planning Ahead
Amsterdam is an art lover’s paradise, but we learned the hard way about the importance of booking in advance. We had been so busy with our recent move to NYC (and relaunching my photography business) that we didn’t make a single plan! This was to be a spontaneous trip! But attractions in Amsterdam book out 6 weeks in advance! Ooopsie! Missing out on things like the Anne Frank House was a a bit of a bummer, but our concierge at Pillows Grand Boutique Hotel Maurits at the Park pulled through and got us into a few museums. Whew!
Rijksmuseum
The Rijksmuseum itself is a treasure trove of masterpieces (the great Dutch masters!!!), and I was in absolute heaven soaking in all the incredible art there.
Marina Abramović Exhibit
And what luck! We arrived just in time for the Marina Abramović exhibit at the modern Stedelijk Museum. Seeing her performance art showcased all together was quite an exhilarating experience.
Thriving on Artistic Inspiration
As a photographer with a deep love for all things art, galleries, and museums, Amsterdam was a source of endless inspiration. Walking through the halls of the Rijksmuseum, I felt a profound connection to the artistry and history on display. Each piece told a story, sparking new ideas and creative energy within me. I was in awe of this city’s rich cultural heritage and rather important art scene.
